Vito protecting Tommasino
This photo is of young Vito Corleone (Robert DeNiro) and several of his bodyguards who are armed with shotguns. Vito is helping his friend Don Tommasino off the ground. This is shortly after Vito stabbed Don Ciccio (who ordered the deaths of his father, mother, and brother). As Vito and Tommasino were running back to the car, one of Ciccio's bodyguards aimed his shotgun at Tommasino. Tommasino fired and killed him, but the bodyguard got a shot off and it hit Tommasino, paralyzing him for the rest of his life. However, Tommasino and Vito had given Don Ciccio what he deserved.

SONNY DEAD
This is a photo, signed by James Caan, of Sonny laying on the ground dead. This is moments after he was machinegunned to death under Emilio Barzini's (Richard Conte) orders. The goons shot Sonny repeatedly with their Tommy guns, brutally murdering the hot-headed gangster. |
Calo whispering to Lucchesi
This is Calo (Franco Citti), who was one of Michael Corleone's bodyguards when he fled to Sicily after murdering Virgil Sollozzo and New York Police Captain McCluskey, whispering into Don Lucchesi's (Enzo Robutti) ear.
After he became the boss of the Corleone family, Vincent ordered Calo to kill Lucchesi because: Lucchesi, along with Archbishop Gilday (Donal Donnelly) and other high ranking political members of the Catholic church, swindled Michael for the hundreds of millions of dollars Michael donated to the church. Calo happily obeyed Vincent's orders since Lucchesi's hired assassin (Mosca) murdered Calo's boss and friend Don Tommasino.
Calo went into Lucchesi's home unarmed with a message from Michael Corleone. Calo spoke with Lucchesi saying that Lucchesi had lost the faith of the people. Lucchesi replied, "He who constructs upon the people constructs upon mud." Lucchesi asked what Michael Corleone's message was. Calo said that it was very important and must be whispered in his ear. Since Calo was clean, Lucchesi's bodyguards let him get next to Lucchesi. Calo whispered, "Power wears out those who don't have it." Lucchesi laughed and then Calo took Lucchesi's glasses and stabbed him in the neck, causing him to bleed to death. Calo was shot by Lucchesi's bodyguards, but got revenge for his master's murder.Gilday would be murdered by Neri and the Vatican accountant that swindled Michael, Lucchesi, and Gilday named Frederick Keinszig was smothered to death by Vincent's goons. Mosca would be killed by Vincent but not after a failed assassination attempt that would end in Michael getting shot in the shoulder and Mary getting killed. Vito (left) Luca Brasi (right)
This is an excellent picture of Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) at left and his right-hand-man Luca Brasi (Lenny Montana) at right.Luca was murdered by one of Virgil Sollozzo's men. Vito told Luca to go to Sollozzo and tell him that he (Luca) was not happy with the Corleone family and say that he wanted to join them. This was a trick by Vito to try and find out some information about Sollozzo. So Luca set up a meeting with him, Bruno Tattaglia and Sollozzo in Bruno Tattaglia's home. Sollozzo agreed to join Luca and told him he would also give Luca fifty-thousand dollars. Just after Luca put a cigarette in his mouth, and Bruno Tattaglia lit it for him, Sollozzo took a knife and stabbed Luca's right hand, pinning it to the table. Then one of Sollozzo's goons took a garrote (a Sicilian wire-like weapon used for strangling) and wrapped it around Luca's neck, choking him to death. |
Vito Corleone feared Mudered!
This is Kay and Michael at a newspaper stand. Michael is reading a paper saying that his father may be dead. This was shortly after Vito was shot.He was shot by two of Virgil Sollozzo's men for not giving Sollozzo two-million dollars plus legal protection. Just after Vito purchased some fruit, the men came running towards Vito. Vito saw them and tried to run to the car, but tripped over a basket of oranges. He was shot five times. Fredo came out of the car to shoot the two men, but dropped his gun. Vito fell against the car and onto the ground. Vito would survive this attack, however.

Tom Hagen and Jack Woltz
This is Jack Woltz (John Marley) petting his 600,000 dollar horse in the Godfather part 1 (1972). He is showing it off to Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall). Hagen went to Woltz's home in California to pursuade Woltz to allow Vito's godson Johnny Fontane (Al Martino) a role in Woltz's upcoming war film.Woltz refused because Fontane had lured a young and beautiful actress, that Woltz put thousands of dollars into, away from the film business to date him. Hagen stayed at Woltz's house for dinner and Woltz angrily told Hagen to leave and that he wasn't going to give in to Corleone. The morning after Woltz refused Fontane's role in the film, Woltz awoke in his bed in a pool of blood. Woltz pulled the covers off of him and found his horse's head at the foot of his bed!!! Woltz screamed in fear and, in turn, allowed Fontane to play in the film. |
The Meeting
This is Vito, with Tom Hagen in the background, at a meeting that he arranged with the heads of the five families (Vito Corleone, Emilio Barzini, Philip Tattaglia, Carmine Cuneo, and Victor Strachi). This was shortly after Vito's son, Sonny, was brutally murdered.Vito, wisely, tried to end the war between the families by negotiating peacefully. Vito promissed that he would not break the peace. However, after Vito's death, Michael decided to wipe out the heads of the five families and gain absolute power in the mob underground.

Michael Corleone is the Don
This is a photo of the final scene of the Godfather (1972). It is Michael Corleone getting his hand kissed by Peter Clemenza (Richard Castellano). Al Neri (Richard Bright) is standing at Michael's right. This is shortly after Michael ordered the death of the heads of the four other crime families.
Emilio Barzini (Richard Conte) was killed by Al Neri. Neri (dressed as a police officer) was issuing a ticket because Barzini's limo was parked in a no-parking zone. All of a sudden, Neri shot Barzini's chauffer, his bodyguard, and then Barzini as he was trying to run for his life at the top of the steps of the Rockefeller Center in New York City.
Ottilio Cuneo (Rudy Bond) was killed by Willie Cicci (Joe Spinell). While Cuneo was walking through a revolving door, Cicci locked it, trapping him in, and shot Cuneo four times.
Philip Tattaglia (Victor Rendina) was murdered by Rocco Lampone (Tom Rosqui) and another assassin while he was in bed with one of his whores.
Finally, Victor Strachi was murdered by Peter Clemenza (Richard Castellano) while he was in an elevator. As the elevator door opened, Clemenza fired two shots with his shotgun, killing Strachi and several other men in the elevator.
With the heads of the four other crime families out of the way, Michael ordered the death of Moe Greene (Alex Rocco). Moe was the owner of several Las Vegas casinos/hotels that Michael wanted to own, but Greene wouldn't sell. As Moe was getting a massage, a man walked into the room. Greene put on his glasses to see who it was. Then the man shot Moe in the right eye and killed Greene.
Sal Tessio (Abe Vigoda) was also murdered. Tessio grew up with Michael's father Vito and was a caporegime in the Corleone crime family. However, despite the long freindship, Tessio joined Emilio Barzini and tried to set up Michael's assassination, but failed. Tessio was taken for a ride in a car and was never seen again.
Carlo Rizzi (Michael's sister Connie's husband) was murdered shortly after his son, Michael, was baptised. Michael decided to be godfather to Carlo's baby. Carlo cooperated with the Barzini crime family to kill Sonny Corleone. Michael forced Carlo to confess that he was in on Sonny's death. Michael gave Carlo a plane ticket to Las Vegas, trying to calm Carlo down. As Carlo got into the front passenger seat of the car to go to the airport, Peter Clemenza (who was sitting in the back seat) took a wire and wrapped it around Carlo's neck. Carlo was strangled to death in retaliation for Sonny's murder.
With all of his enemies wiped out, Michael was in a class of his own with absolute power.
