INTERESTING INFO (Salary info courtesy of: John De Rosa)

ENJOY INFORMATION YOU MAY NEVER HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE GREAT PEOPLE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TRILOGY! THIS IS PAGE 1 OF 2.
Here is some interesting info:

Diane Keaton
Diane Keaton (played Kay) was born on January 5, 1946 in Los Angeles, California. She also won the Oscar for best actress for the movie "Annie Hall" (1977) at the 1978 Academy Awards.

Troy Donahue (January 27, 1936-September 2, 2001) played Merle Johnson (Connie's Husband in part 2). Ironically, Merle Johnson is his real name! Troy Donahue is merely his stage name.

Lenny Montana as Luca Brasi Lenny Montana (played Luca Brasi) was a former professional wrestler. He is shown in the picture above playing Luca Brasi listening intently as Don Vito Corleone (not pictured) orders him to go to the Tattaglia home and get information about Virgil Sollozzo by saying he (Luca) wants to join him.

Francis Ford Coppola
Francis Coppola (April 7, 1939- Coppola earned over 7 million dollars for Godfather 1 and 2 combined. He also received 510,000 dollars for editing part 1 for television. In addition to that, he won the Oscar for best director for directing Godfather 2 at the 1975 Academy Awards and was nominated for Godfather 1 & 3.

Marlon Brando (April 3, 1924-
Earned 50,000 dollars for acting in part 1. He even owned 5 percent of the whole film!
Marlon Brando, at first, wasn't a popular choice for the role of Vito Corleone at all and the executives at Paramount Pictures weren't going to allow him to play the role of Vito Corleone. The only way they would allow him to play was if he would agree to work for free, put up a bond if Paramount had any monetary losses due to Brando's bad behavior, and if he would do a screen test. They told Coppola these were the only conditions they would allow Brando act as Vito under. Coppola agreed, but didn't tell Brando. Coppola (who wouldn't have directed the film if he hadn't been convinced by his good friend George Lucas in 1969 that he couldn't afford not to direct it) taped the screen tests and stuck by Brando. The people at Paramount were amazed and allowed him to play the role of the Godfather: Vito Corleone.

Nino Rota

Nino Rota (1911-1979)
Composed the music for all three of the Godfather films. The most famous being the theme music entitled "The Godfather Waltz." Nino was nominiated for best music for the Godfather part 1 at the 1973 Academy Awards and won the award for best music for the Godfather part 2 at the 1975 Academy Awards.

Young Marlon Brando

Young Marlon Brando
This picture below is Marlon Brando from the 1951 movie "A Streetcar Named Desire." Marlon won best actor for the Godfather part 1 at the Academy Awards in 1973, but refused the award. He was upset about how the United States (especially Hollywood) was discriminating against the Indians. He didn't even go to the ceremony. Instead, he sent a fake Indian woman named Sacheen Littlefeather to accept the award. Her real name is Maria Cruz who's an unsuccessful Californian actress.

Brando's recent life has been horrible. His oldest son, Christian, murdered Brando's daughter's Tahitian fiancee in 1990. Her fiancee's name was Dag Dollet. Brando's daughter Cheyenne, who is half-Tahitian, was pregnant at the time. Sadly, Cheyenne committed suicide in 1994. It was due to this that in September of 1995 Brando tried to obtain Irish citizenship. Tahitian gangsters blamed Brando for Dag Dollet's death and had a contract out for his death. Nothing more would become of that thankfully. Christian would be released from prison in 1996 on parole. Brando has recently been in deep depression and his last major movie was "Apocalypse Now" (1979) which was a major hit.

Warren Beatty
Warren Beatty
Warren Beatty was the first choice for the role of Michael Corleone, but he turned it down.

A lupara is a Sicilian shotgun.

No More Clemenza
Richard S. Castellano (September 4, 1933-December 10, 1988) would have played Clemenza in the Godfather part 2, but he wanted too much money and wanted to write his own lines.

To compensate for the hole in the storyline, the writers killed off Clemenza like this: Clemenza promised that the Rosato brothers would receive territories in the Bronx after his death. However, he was killed by the Rosato brothers out of the Rosato brothers's greed and utter impatience for those territories. Frank Pentangeli worked under Clemenza for years and didn't allow the Rosato brothers to get the territories when he took over until Michael told him to make the peace (which almost cost Pentangeli his life).

Another interesting footnote: Castellano's wife was Ardell Sheridan. Ironically, she played Mrs. Clemenza in the Godfather part 1.
