He died in 1978 in New York City due to bone cancer. He was about to be married to his sweetheart Meryl Streep.
Robert De Niro (played Young Vito) was born on August 17, 1943 in New York City. At the 1975 Academy Awards, he was awarded best supporting actor for his role as young Vito in the Godfather part 2.
